part 3 of a new project I’m working on entitled:
“ *Make sure your eyes are eloquent, beautiful.
*of course, not for yourself. but because you need to look good for men, and you need to compete with other women. ”
Since the very beginning, women have been taught to do their make-up, wear certain types of clothing and accessories, and act a certain way for the benefit of men or to compete with other women. We are not taught to do these things because we want to for ourselves. If women do not do these things, we are instantly written off and shoved to the side. Suddenly, we do not matter if we are not some source of eye candy. Women are constantly objectified by this way of thinking our culture has created. By this train of thought, the female persuasion are not fellow human beings to those of the male persuasion, we become something to look at for their pleasure and nothing more.
I’m taking screen-grabs and real quotes from beauty commercials of years and decades past to show that this has clearly been around for quite some time (sadly, even before these ads). I’ve decided to keep the youtube frame around the screen-grabs to make them more relevant and relatable to women today.

2. “Since 1945, an increasing number of men have chosen the beautification of women-kind as a career. Their customers have confidence in their judgement. Because, after all, who is more appreciative of beautiful women, than a man?”
